The Toyota Fortuner is one of those vehicles in India which has a cult-like following. Once a person buys a Fortuner, they cannot stop talking about it. The main reason behind this is that the Fortuner is an extremely reliable vehicle. Recently, CID, Sony Television channel show fame Dayanand Shetty, or whom we all know as Daya, shared a video online. In this video, he explains why he has not been able to sell his 16-year-old Toyota Fortuner.
CID star Daya reveals his love affair with his Fortuner
This video in which Daya explains his honest opinions on his Toyota Fortuner has been shared on Instagram by his official page. It starts off with Daya mentioning that this particular video is specially being recorded to talk about his love for his Toyota Fortuner. He then states that he bought this vehicle back in 2010 and even before buying it, he had a Toyota Innova, which was a wonderful car.
However, he wanted to upgrade his vehicle, and the Fortuner was very new at the time, so he bought it. Daya then highlights that in 2026, it's the 17th year of this car, and after the intervals of 5 years, 10 years, and 15 years, he thought of selling it and upgrading it. He then continues and states that after buying the Fortuner, he bought a few more cars. But after using them for 5 to 6 years, he sold all of them, and in the meantime, he could not part ways with the Fortuner.
Soon after this, Daya mentions that the vehicle is very beautiful and it is still very amazing to drive. He adds that he travels a lot and goes to places including Goa, Bangalore, Gujarat, Kerala, and others and has never faced any issue with his Fortuner. Daya then states that he has developed a bond with this SUV and whenever he thinks of selling it, his heart starts sinking.
He then continues and jokes that he will not sell it and even if he had to keep it in a museum, he will do it. Finally, he comes out of the vehicle and shows the exterior design and mentions that even after 17 years, it still looks beautiful. Daya adds that Toyota has maintained the same look and it is in immaculate condition.
From the video, we can note that the Fortuner seen in the video is a Type 2 Fortuner. However, as he has mentioned, it is a 17-year-old vehicle. At the time, the company offered the Type 1 model. This means that most likely, at some point in the life of this Fortuner, this vehicle was converted to Type 2.
Daya also bought a Land Rover Defender
In addition to the Fortuner, CID fame Dayanand Shetty also recently bought himself a brand-new Land Rover Defender luxury SUV as well. He has chosen the 110 five-door version. Its feature highlights include a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster, automatic climate control, a head-up display, a wireless phone charger, connected car technology, a Meridian premium sound system, electrically adjustable front seats, and electronic air suspension that can be raised at the touch of a button.
It also gets a 360-degree camera, heated front seats, blind-spot assist, front and rear parking sensors, six airbags, ABS, traction control, leather upholstery, rubber flooring, and much more. Powering the Land Rover Defender is a 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre turbocharged motor. It also gets an optional 5.0-litre V8 and a 4.4-litre V8 Octa variant.
Daya is also an avid biker as well and owns a Jawa Bobber, which was gifted to him by his “Mother from past life,” and he also bought himself a Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 back in 2023 as well.
